Now that the dust has settled a tad, all back orders have long since shipped, I wanted to take a breather and give everyone a list of authorized Blue Tube Dealers across the country.

I've made it easy.. If you have a piece of Blue Tube, the answer is right there, on the inside wrap of the tube. Just go to:

Response has been very positive overall, people are standing on it, suspending it between chairs and sitting on it, fun stuff! We've had a few first run issues, normal stuff, and I'm standing behind the few cases we've had.

Apogee Components has stock in the Blue Phenix and/or Blue Phenix 2.0 (payload bay option) right NOW.

What's Up Hobbies, Huff Performance, Performance Hobbies and Rebel Space all have stock of airframes and couplers on the shelves ready to ship.

Personally? I would pit a double walled Blue Tube rocket against carbon fiber and fiberglass anyday.. Officially, I can't say that yet, but I hope to soon!

Randy, First I got to sat that stuff is AWESOME, I'm rebuilding a crashed 3" 54mm rocket, Blue tube laughed at my exacto knife, and sneered at my dremmel tool. even with a tile cutting bit on it, it cut slower than going through fiberglass wrapped phenolic! :eek:

I cant wait to wring this babby out on a K695 or bigger. :y:

Anyway, Is their a possiblity larger blue tube will be available in the near future? say 10 or 12"

Regarding larger diameters, unfortunately not at this time. The demand doesn't justify the mandrel cost. Maybe 7.5's this summer though.

Is this offer for non LEUP customers? If so, I'm ready to stock up on motors. Do you have a list of motors that you can ship W/O hazmat fee? How do you verify proof of certification?

Hi rrobe99999,

It's not an "offer", it will be the law of the land here come Monday. You will not need an LEUP to purchase high power motors anymore if the ATF doesn't appeal. All I need is a scanned copy of your NAR or TRA membership card. All HP motor orders have a HAZMAT fee. If you're stocking up, the haz fee ends up being a manageable percentage of the cost of your order and isn't too terrible. I have multiple quantities of every motor in the 29 through 54mm and a few 75's and 98's for starters.

I found a great way to cut this stuff. I got irritated and tried something I hadn't done before. 10" Miter Saw. Cuts right through it. Nice and straight. Works good on fiberglass as well. :)

I'll have to put together a jig for a table saw or router for larger tubes, this saw seems like it might not do well past about 4".

Well, yes, that's true, those don't have a hazmat fee. My bad. As a hobby line (soon to be HP) dealer, I made a habit of picking reloads that could go surface mail only to have AT ship them FedEx w/ a haz fee anyway. They weren't comfy w/ the lack of tracking and accountability w/ parcel post so I kind of gave up trying to pick products around it. However, that being said, retail outbound orders from my stock I don't have an issue w/ shipping that way.

Yep, miter saws are awesome for cutting tubing.

For larger diameter tubes, you need to clamp a block to butt the tube against, make a cut, rotate the tube, make another cut, etc....

I've done up to 7.5" on a 12" saw that way.

Yup I use a 12 inch DeWalt compound miter saw with an Avanti 96 tooth thin kerf Italian saw blade. Anyone who ordered any custom length airframes from me can vouch for the bizzare fact that the edges of the airframe are SHARP. How odd for a fiber based product. I cut up to 6 inch and rotate it by hand* with the blade running.

Man, I still haven't flown my Blue Tube rocket and I already want to order some 6" tubes! This is great stuff to work with now that I'm using power tools to cut it. :) I'll have to look for a blade like yours, sounds like a good fit. I used a coarse tooth wood blade. I think it's the one the saw came with. Worked great.

We may well be using identical saws, although I cut mine with the blade that came with the saw -- it works very nicely for it, too!

My good place (Freud 96 tooth) doesn't go near paper products....

Yes I'm building a 6 inch Blue Tube rocket this week. I trashed my 7.5" Merlin. I sold the nose cone and am re-doing it in 6 inch BT.

Complete Blue Tube altimeter bays are available Thursday from 38mm to 6 inch too. Prices forthcoming along with the release of the Predator rocket.
