The sun unleashed a dazzling solar flare Feb. 24 that NASA called a 'monster.'http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/Aanl_tG69tSd9YL8fQ0ZgsbT6Mg/0/di (http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/Aanl_tG69tSd9YL8fQ0ZgsbT6Mg/0/da)

Seems like just yesterday we had horizon to horizon auroras. I think they even got as far south as Florida. ( late Oct. '05 or '06? ). Hopefully we don't break any records this go around.

Nope. This was just an M class flare. They're sizeable, but not that unusual. There was an X class flare on Feb. 14 though, which was substantially stronger.
