ARLINGTON, Texas USA — The Courtyard by Marriott Dallas Arlington South in Arlington, Texas, will play host to the National Fire Protection Association's Technical Committee on Pyrotechnics this January 13-14, 2011, with representatives from the hobby rocketry industry meeting a day prior, January 12, 2011. The international non-profit fire code association works to reduce fire danger and related hazards by providing and advocating consensus codes and standards, research, training, and education. NFPA develops, publishes, and disseminates more than 300 consensus codes and standards intended to minimize the possibility and effects of fire and other risks. Even during the hobby's infancy, representatives of hobby rocketry recognized the need for them to work with NFPA to prevent hobby rocketry from being regulated out of existence. They continue to work just as hard today to safely make the hobby accessible on a nationwide basis.
