You guys really wish big, don't ya? Try not to forget there is a $20-$30 cap.
Yeah... the e-mail I sent to Papa Elf actually has a split list. The realistic list, and the somewhat unrealistic list. :)
In some of the previous SS exchanges, I have seen generous individuals send somewhat more than $20-30 worth. I have a fairly large build queue, so if anything in my queue is on my victims list, I'll probably toss it in on top of the gift.
I didn't view the $20-30 as a cap, but more of a guideline. I expect I'll probably exceed that number myself, as I find it's somewhat hard to stay under that especially in the HPR world where $20-30 gets you a small motor, or various knick knacks, and I'd really like to gift my victim an actual kit, or enough parts and pieces to build something.

20-30 isn't a cap. It's just A guideline. I tend to spend a little more than that usually. There is a lot of generous people that do the same.
Although, this year may be different for me, I may end up in the $20-$30 range.

Duelly noted, "guideline" is the proper term. I only pointed it out because I wouldn't want someone who has never participated to see a bunch of wishlists for altimaters, 98mm motor casings, or 9" V2 kits and get scared away.

That is a good point as well. However, I think my list is fair, as some of the high power kits I included fall in the guideline, or just slightly over. I do agree that some people over do it, but they're just being hopeful, I was going to include things that would help with the build of our six inch alpha, but $30 would probably only get a couple centering rings ;)

EL Cheapo, I believe Papa Elf also tries to sort things by power level when he matches up Santa's and victims. (At least I've seen that in my experience) That way it is easier to shop / stay in your budget. I too have had generous Santa's but know of folks who have had poor experiences after having been generous.

How does this work? Do I order the gift and get it sent to my place and THEN wrap it and send it to the person I got? If I order it online sometimes they will send it only to the person on the "Credit card" and if you do a C/O type thing the person getting the package will know who its from. And I dont send anything with out a return address. I think ya get my drift. Just trying to keep it secret.;)

Usually you order the gift and the vendor sends it directly to your victum. You can have it sent to yourself first, but this is only advisable if you are putting together a present from more than one vendor.

Yes, you are the first victim of our new Stealth Llama Delivery System. Once the delivery Llama arrives at the victims address it hides and waits for the victim to accomplish send their SS gift. Once this is done, it comes down from the trees and gives you your package.

My Secret Santa gift arrived today. :)
Delivered by the USPS in a plain brown box, the message written on the box gave directions that were clear as to the disposition of the package.
The outer box was opened to find another beautifully wrapped box within, protected by many shipping 'peanuts'. Our Christmas tree will be erected tomorrow, so my SS gift will be the first one under the tree!:)
Thanks to my SS sender.:) I wonder what's inside???
I would be remiss if I didn't give props to the vendor/shipper, Art Applewhite. The cost of shipping alone was near what we were supposed to spend on gifts, but to giftwrap the inner box was definitely over-the-top in my book.
Thanks to all the vendors who selfishly offered their services to us.
Lastly, thanks to Papa Elf for stepping up to make this annual event a Holiday Tradition.:)

One box with threat of Llama Loogies received. Going to have to dodge those Loogies on Christmas eve. I'm hoping the flight in the direction of Llama HQ will throw them off the scent.

Sounds like Schroedinger's Secret Santa Gift!! Is it a gift, or is it a lump of coal? It's actually both at the same time, and resolution does not happen until the moment the box is opened.

The llamas are busy...they left a surprise on my back porch today.
My wife always tries to open my SS gift. The suspense kills her and she doesn't even care about rockets??? I've hidden it behind the tree, so the llamas will not trick me into doing anything "stupid."

The SS Sleigh, (a.k.a, USPS Truck) dropped off a package at my house this afternoon while I was at work!!! Fortunately I was not home at the time, as the box read, "Open this box to reveal the wrapped gift inside". But thanks to a note from Jim Flis to my son to not allow me to open the box, as the gift had not been wrapped......the package is now safely wrapped and under the tree and my eyes have been spared the heat and pain of the lasers typically reserved for those who cannot control their urge to peek ever-so-slightly.:santa-smile:
Thank you to my Secret Santa and Merry Christmas to all.....and don't forget......nooooooo peeking!!!:wink:

I don't know if anybody else has the same fun from the TRF Secret Santa, but in the last few years, it has been fun giving and receiving from fellow rocketeers who really understand where one is coming from. Hopefully, my victim will enjoy his gift. I am chomping at the bit to open my gifts.
