This is a REALLY good deal guys!
50 motors for 36 bucks makes them .72 cents a flight. Ya get the 8 LPB models and a very nice launch system.. like its free.
I have about 1100 motors in my inventory but just ordered a couple of these sets for future gifts and give aways.
a Great Stocking stuffer if you just use the motor packs LOL! I mean Ho Ho Ho!

Edit that to say 8 models, not 8 motors.
How much was your shipping? I will probably call to ask about that since multiple shipping boxes will result in multiple shipping fees and I would prefere USPS to avoid HAZMAT fees.

Fred:
Thanks for the Edit, Indeed 8 Micro LPB models, controller, and launchpad with 50 MMX-II motors and Q2 micro Maxx igniters.
Shipping & Handling for 2 sets and a 24pk of Q2g2 igniters for standard motor clustering was 13.62 USPS.

I ordered 8 of the SVSSs. The newbies at the club launches always want them and I have not had any in a while. I'll give them a free launch rod and standard deflector so they can use the pad for standard sized models as well.
Perfect for the months we are on the smaller launch field when the Ren-Fair is in the park using our normal large area.

Mine came in the mail today! It was waiting for me after after driving home from the Orlando R.O.C.K. monthly launch.
I really bought it for the engines. 50 engines for $36.00 was a good deal, even without the launcher, controller and 8 rockets.
I hadn't seen all of the LPBs before. It's a real trick to get that engine retainer off some of them.
Next week I hope to launch all the bricks in one session. Before anybody chimes in, I know about enlarging the Saturn V fins.

Agreed - this would be a great gift.

My 8 SVSSs arrived today in perfect condition.
They will be made available to the folks who attend SCRA launches or the after-launch get together at Jack-In-The-Box.
I'll also put one on display at the club booth at the AMA Expo in very early January. We're helping folks build Quest Starhawks in the AMA sponsored Make & Take area, so this helps show more of the product line. At the Make & Take i will have a normal red Quest pad and controller with a Stahawk on the rod. i will use an EBC with the Quest controller and demonstrate nichrome wire igniters - they love how the wire turns red and turns into molten magma. It helps newbies understand basic electrical ignition.

Did this every go out of stock? I've kept tabs on the quest website and everytime it says it's $36

But THIS time it comes with 50 motors instead of the normal 25. Heck of a deal!

it was out of stock for a while, then it came back. Original had 10 rockets and 50 motors with QMX igniters. It came back with 8 models and 25 motors and the new launch pad (with new hub) and Q2 no-pyrogen igniters.
This special has the orignal 25 motor label on thebox, but inside is a bag stuffed with 50 motors and 50 Q2 no-pyrogen igniters.
If this set does not get someone addicted and make them want to buy some Micro kits (from Flis, maybe?), then there is no hope for them.

I got my order yesterday. I really enjoy the LPBs; once you learn their quirks they can be a lot of fun. And 50 flights of anything for $36 is just too good of a deal to pass up.
Does anyone know how much MMX stuff is still out there? I know there LPBs have not been made in years but are they still producing motors? It will be a sad day for me when I'm no longer able to fly my micro fleet :(

You came to the right place There is plenty of stuff around & here is a great place to start. Along with some very fine kits, unusual designs, you can find any components you want to scratch build.
I must warn you though, the owner J Flis, is an unusual design himself.LOL!
Fair warning about about using this link: If you go there beware, you might end up like me.... I only wanted one or 2, couldn't make up my mind so I bought all of them.

http://www.fliskits.com/products/01prod_fs.htmThe FlisKits Micro To The Maxx fleet just keeps growing and growing, too.
Aerospace Speciality Products (http://www.asp-rocketry.com/index.cfm) also has a selection of kits for MicroMaxx, including 7 scale kits (http://www.asp-rocketry.com/store/category.cfm?Category=175) and 1 sport kit (http://www.asp-rocketry.com/store/moreinfo.cfm?Product_ID=669&Category=177). They also stock parts such as body tubes and nose cones that are appropriate for micro scratch builds.
Qualified Competition Rockets (http://www.cybertravelog.com/qcr/index.html) (QCR) has a wide selection of kits for NAR 1/8A competition events, as well as nifty parts like foam ejection plugs and the only commercially produced 6mm piston launcher on the market.
Balsa Machining Service (http://www.balsamachining.com/) (BMS) also stocks parts, especially body tubes and balsa components that can be used for scratch-building micros. So does Semroc Astronautics (http://www.semroc.com/Store/Scripts/default.asp).
And don't forget that the mother ship, Quest Aerospace (http://www.questaerospace.com/index.asp), also now sells MicroMaxx components.
Quest and a few other vendors also carry a selection of the original plastic RTFs and Silo starter sets. Discount Rocketry (https://www.discountrocketry.com/index.php) and Model Aerospace Company (http://www.modelaerospace.com/) appear to have them in stock

If you are looking for some different downsized models, I drew up a bunch of MMX GooneyBirds and a MMX SkyWriter.
All the Gooneys are BT-5 wraps that you print out, no painting except for the "Mosquito" style nose cone. The fins are three ply cardstock.
They are really that small, the quarter is there for a size reference.
The SkyWriter is a cardstock wrap around a 1/4' dowel. The Skywriter is a minimum diameter Micromaxx and flys very high for a 1/8 A.
All are stable and fly well with MMX engines.
All PDFs are available from Wayne Hill's Rocketry Blog at: http://rocketry.wordpress.com/ultimate-paper-rocket-guide/paper-rocket-partial-builds/
Scroll down to the Gooneys!

All using standard type model rocket building supplies available from quite a few sources these days.
Just five of the offereings.

Placed an order for this Saturday. Since starting in rockets this spring, I haven't ventured out of the Estes world (other than some modifications while repairing a couple, and the flying saucer...). For this price, I figure what better way is there for getting some micros and trying out some Quest engines and ignitors?

Thanks for all the replies! So many options, not sure where to begin. Somewhere I have a few Flis kits and a few from a company called Micro Classics. I put them away when I determined that Quest Silo was not the best way to launch MMX. Now that that issue is solved with the new Quest Launch Pad and igniter, its time to get building!

Mark:
I believe Steve Clapp is the guy you want to contact for Micro Classics Models.
No web site the only e-mail I had for him was microclassics@aol.com
I believe he is in roseville, Mn. used to have a phone number but it's not on my note pad anymore.
Had some really interesting kits that were $12.00 each as I recall.
Hope that helps a little, I'll track down the old phone number this evening if you want.

I was following this thread and decided to try out the starter kit. I too really bought in to it for the engines. And 50 engines for $36.00 WAS a good deal (plus the rockets, launcher, and pad.....)
My order came in the mail today. The kit contained everything listed on the range box / package, along with the ONE package of 25 engines; there wasn't an additional engine package (making 50 total) like the others have received. :(
Still a pretty good deal, considering price, but NOT a great deal like the previous posters have indicated.
This posting is just a data point for other lurkers and perspective buyers out there. YMMV.

Did you buy it after the special sale ended??
See post number 2 in this thread.
It only had double the motors when the sale was in effect.

Hi,
I tracked down my Micro Interceptor kit. Here is the contact information listed on the package:
Micro Classics
2965 W Owasso Blvd
Roseville, MN 55113
Phone 651-484-0096
Fax 651-484-0096
email microclassics@aol.com
I bought the Micro Interceptor and the Micro Space Ship One (the space ship one kit was just parts and instructions in a sandwich bag). I paid $12 apiece for the kits. At the time, I thought that was a small fortune and their booth was night next to Semroc, which ended up with most of my money. I want to say this was at NARCON 2006.
There were some really neat kits, all on display on a 2x4. He had a micro Centuri Mach 10 that was just too cool; but not available in kit form. When I inquired the man at the booth told me all it did was "the loop of death", but still he have me an index card with the parts list to make my own. I have acquired all the parts since; and just have to be brave enough to attempt the build.

What Size bodies do his Micro Interceptor and Space Ship One use?
Wondering as we were comparing models at Naram-46, at that time he didn't have either, but was "working on them" Minimum diameter for the interceptor is T2+ or .281" See pic. the SSO is BT-5 or .544" OD.
Both are SUPER flyers...maybe to good sometimes.
I've been working on the Mach-10 as well with a flip up hinged tail flap to reduce the loop potential. Works well on a couple larger size mach-10's still waiting for a no wind day to test this micro powered try.

Micro,
Forgive my ignorance, but I'm not sure on the actual sizes. The Interceptor is what I would describe as "minimum diameter", but it is a hard plastic body tube (like a pen barrel) SSO is a bit larger than 18mm minimum diameter, but I don't have a way to accurately measure it.
Great to hear that you are working on a Mach 10, I'll keep an eye in the Yahoo group for the plans :)
