Hi there,
I came across this video of a Godly launch of a two-stage Mike/Nike Smoke Rocket adapted from a PoleCat Aerospace kit.

My questions are: What kind of coupling system is used to connect the booster and sustainer stages of such a rocket? How is seperation accomplished? Are shear pins used to prevent an early drag seperation? How is the booster stage parachute recovery bay protected from the heat and flames of the mootor ignition of the sustainer stage engine?

I would be interested to hear any feedback and discussion.
