I was thinking, not like I have alot of free time, and it will not be this summer;
with the farm summer time does not allow much free time. But with the large
amount of farm ground around here and even a few sod farms I thought it
might be worth exploring the idea.

What input do you all have.

I will add I am about ~15 miles west of Kankakee, IL and ~35 miles South of
Joliet, IL. The nearest club is 1.5 hours south of me in Champaign, from
there they get farther.

I'm not trying to be negative Shade, and I wish you luck in starting a new club, BUT driving only 1.5 hrs to a launch is close for most of us.

Many of our members drive 4-6 hrs to get to our monthly launches. Just part of flying rockets.

Me.... I don't count.... I drive hundreds,[even thousands of miles] just to fly!

Nice to have all the equipment to fly already there. That's the real hard part of starting a club. getting all the ground support equipment. Pads of various sizes.

Rod, rails, Pa system fire extinguishers,launch controls, porta johns, Batteries to run everything and a trailer to store it all in. Finally enough members that show up on a regular basis to put it all out and back in the trailer at all the launches. It seems like the same dedicated few are always doing that. Then you need officers, a Prefect to run the show, treasurer to handle money, RSO..LCO etc. and schedule all the launches.Don't forget a website that also must be designed and updated for launches. Taps on hand for Level 1-2-3 flights.

Good luck, the more the merrier!

I'm two hours away and glad it isn't further! It's a happy trip.
