Despite the 5mph wind, it still managed to float far far away to never been seen again... but I was able to get some footage of the launch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bSu52ol4a-A

Nice videoclip.
Looked like a solid launch so consider that a success.
We all lose rockets from time to time, it's just part of the hobby. Now get busy on that SECOND rocket!

Sometimes adding a little spill hole in the center of the chute helps them descend faster with less drift, without risking damage if the hole is small enough. Also, sometimes winds up there are much faster than at ground.
I launch a pilot rocket first that comes down on a small chute and watch how it flies, then adjust things accordingly.
Keep at it! It's worth it!

One thing to keep in mind is to use the smallest recommended motor for the kit for the first launch and then gradually move up to larger ones. A lot of people new to the hobby throw a C motor in a small rocket being flown from a football field, not realizing that the rocket will go out of sight in many cases. Using an A (or a B if the rocket is larger, as this one is) first lets you see how the rocket performs and keeps it in sight. You may even find that for a given field, that's all the motor you should use.
Enjoy!
