Hi everyone,

I was wondering how many of us start a project by modelling it in CAD/CAM environment beside and/or along with Rocksim or SpaceCAD.

It would be nice to share some thoughts about it and even some tutorials if the feedback dictates so.

I usually build my entire project virtually and check for issues and improvements.

I'm now in the process of creating my own database of accessories and parts starting with AT motors.

Just to knock the thread a bit, here it is the 75/2560:

Here it is the 98/2560:

More will come and could be shared. They're drawn in Rhinoceros and rendered in Penguin (non-photoreal).

You aren't the only one who does that. I don't generally solid model simple 3FNC, but for more complex stuff (especially stuff that RS8 can't do) I use SolidWorks for modeling and working out the kinks.

I attached a couple shots of a NAR Helicopter Duration model I did a few months ago.

I learned SolidWorks in one of my engineering courses. Mostly the basics but enough to be able to build a rocket. I have played around with it a couple of times nothing fancy but its fun to play with. Same as the previous post it helps with the more complex designs

I don't want to.

That's way I'm asking to share some knowledge about what we do, why and how.

So the "why" is clear: more complex designs.

Did that Apollo PA model ever fly? I remember following the build thread, but I don't remember a flight...

We are getting ready.
